First Place Business Services is a woman-owned transcription, writing, and editing service based in the amazing and beautiful Puget Sound region of Washington State. I'm Michelle DePorter, and I began working in transcription in 1988, continuing to develop my skills as an independent contractor working nights and weekends as I built a successful administrative career. In 2004, I made the leap to full-time entrepreneurship.
I'm a graduate of Arizona State University with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Latin American Studies. As a student of language and self-described "Grammar Nerd," I take pride in producing clear, accurate, and thoughtfully crafted documents for every client.
I personally handle the majority of projects, which ensures consistency, accuracy, and direct communication from start to finish. When additional support is needed, I work with a trusted network of US-based, native English-speaking transcription professionals with experience across a wide range of fields, including law enforcement, insurance, academia, research, government, sales and marketing, financial services, legal, and corporate environments.
I also collaborate with native Spanish-speaking professionals, including some based internationally, to support Spanish-language projects.
